Recent work: Neorelic business card design

Recent work: Neorelic business card

After many months of putting it off, I’ve finally found the time – and motivation – to design my first ever business card. While I wait for my printed cards to be delivered from moo.com, I thought this would be a good opportunity to share my work.

Probably the most notable feature of the card is the QR code on the back, which produces a vCard with my contact details when scanned. Rather than settling for a traditional (i.e. ugly) black-and-white QR code, I attempted to pretty it up a bit with some colour and highlights. The addition of the heart in the centre is a small homage to the visual styling of 8-bit games of the past, which are the primary inspiration behind my logo. Overall, I’m quite happy with how this design has turned out.

Feel free to scan the code and let me know if you encounter any issues retrieving the information. And special thanks to Belinda Cooper for her help with brainstorming ideas for this design.

The barcode did work for me on my HTC desire, as expected. Brings up your website, contact details and lets me add you on my phone. I’m impressed you got that thing to work even with the love heart in the middle, pretty clever. It does look a lot better that way.

Thanks, Chris. I’m still a bit worried about whether or not it will work in print, but glad to hear it seems to work fairly universally on-screen.

Also, I should point out that that’s an HP heart!
